Welcome to Walker Community!
Located in the Bradshaw Mountains, south of Prescott, AZ, Walker Community is an old mining district, filled with history. It’s named after Joseph Walker, mountain man, explorer, and guide. He led a party to this valley to discover gold in the summer of 1863.
Today, the valley is filled with rustic cabins and elegant homes. There’s a vibrant community of people here, with an active social calendar. Some live here full-time, while others have second homes here.
Everyone loves it here. The community is great, with pancake breakfasts and other social events.

Chip and Haul Finally Finished
Whew! The Chip and Haul pile is gone. Well almost, but it’s now just a matter of some clean up that the county equipment couldn’t handle. Like a root ball someone added to the pile and some rock and dirt laden material some commercial contractor left us. As anyone who has been by the Fire Station knows, this process was extended by what we are calling the Perfect Storm effect. We depend on Yavapai County for the equipment to load and grind up the pile. This year the Crooks Fire disrupted EVERYTHING. The equipment was not available, the county could not get employees […]
Prescott National Forest Rescinds Fire Restrictions on Friday, July 15 at 8:00 a.m.
Due to monsoonal activity and sufficient rainfall, the Prescott National Forest will rescind all fire restrictions as of 8 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022.
Fire danger remains high across the forest. Visitors are still asked to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could accidentally cause wildfires – refrain from campfires on dry and windy days and remember that it is always illegal to leave a campfire unattended. In addition, fireworks are never allowed on any National Forest land.
Know Before You Go! Statewide fire restriction information can be found at www.wildlandfire.az.gov/fire-restrictions. The map shows current […]

Bear Walking in Walker
I was showing a property to some clients, when they said “Hey! There’s a bear.” I pulled out my trusty iPhone and took this movie.
In 9 years of living in Walker, I have never seen a bear. Until Saturday.
I’ve been hearing of more wildlife sightings in Walker. I assume that the fire destroyed where they normally live, so they are out and about, looking for new places to hang out.
If you’ve seen any wildlife recently, please let us know in the comments below.
Walker Day is June 18th
Walker Day is the single BIGGEST fundraiser of the season. This event it is
a giant yard sale with items that are donated from the community. Walker
Day draws people from all over including our community, Prescott Valley,
Prescott, etc.
This year’s Walker Day takes place at the Walker Fire Station on
Saturday, June 18th, 2022 – 11am to 2 pm (Yard Sale from 9 am to 1 pm).
Come join us for some good old-fashioned family fun and live entertainment
among the beautiful cool pines. Help us to raise funds for our local
volunteer fire association!

WFPA Annual Meeting Voting Results
There were 4 openings on the Board this time. 3 incumbents were running, along with 3 new candidates, plus one was nominated from the floor during the meeting.
The official email from the WFPA:
Yesterday, May 28th, was the WFPA Annual Meeting. It was nice to see
several community members tossing their names in the running for the
election this year. The association runs because of the time and efforts of
the volunteers. The WFPA Board Meetings are always open to the community
and attendance is encouraged. The Elections were held and below is a report of the outcome.

WFPA Annual Meeting (Another Note)
We get email.
As promised I’m going to trying send reminders about the Annual Meeting
every couple of days.Parking
Will be an issue, remember. The Walker Church (always a very supportive
group for the WFPA) has offered their property for people to park. It’s
up the Sunday School Road just south of the Fire Station across Lynx Creek.
It will be a little bit of a walk and it would be nice if we can get a few
volunteers with Side by Side ATV’s to help transport people back and
forth. Our Board members will be busy preparing for the meeting so
additional help will be needed. […]
