Welcome to Walker Community!
Located in the Bradshaw Mountains, south of Prescott, AZ, Walker Community is an old mining district, filled with history. It’s named after Joseph Walker, mountain man, explorer, and guide. He led a party to this valley to discover gold in the summer of 1863.
Today, the valley is filled with rustic cabins and elegant homes. There’s a vibrant community of people here, with an active social calendar. Some live here full-time, while others have second homes here.
Everyone loves it here. The community is great, with pancake breakfasts and other social events.

DC-10 Dropping Red
About 7:15pm this evening, I was standing on my deck, as I watched a DC-10 fly along the Mt. Union ridge and drop a load of the red foam. It was an amazing sight. Of course, I got no photos.
The smoke seemed to be reduced significantly after that drop. The plane kept flying east and south, I assume towards Phoenix. No big revelation, but I was encouraged, so I thought I’d share.
This Is How Good I Am At PhotoShop. Fake, From 2 Photos Taken Today
This is not a real photo!
Deb Crann-Klemkosky took 2 photos in proximity, when the helicopters were getting water to fight the fire. I PhotoShopped them together.
This is a young couple, out on a romantic canoe ride, during a fire.
360 Tour of Walker Road Snow
This is Walker Road the day after a foot of snow.
It takes a minute to load. There’s no audio.
Controls are wonky. Try to refresh your web page or click the image if it doesn’t play. Try stuff, if you have problems.
You can move the location in the play bar to replay it.
Use your cursor/finger to rotate the movie 360 degrees. You can see it coming and going.
Try pointing it straight up and watch the tops of the trees go by.
Snow Day – About a Foot
A winter storm came through Walker last night and all day today.
It dropped about a foot of snow.
Tonight will be cold, in the teens, and tomorrow will be sunny.
Things might be melty, then icy, so drive carefully.
Avoid the area if you can.
If you don’t live here full time, it’s beautiful.
If you do live here full time, get out the snow shovel and the snow blower, because you have work ahead of you.

Single Car Rollover Accident
Got this email from Roger.
The snow is melting, the sun is out, but there’s still ice on the roads.
It sneaks up on you, so yes, please do drive slowly out there.
It’s never more dangerous than when you think it’s safe.
There was a single car rollover accident at Sunday School and Walker Rd this morning (Friday, January 7th)
The driver was going TOO FAST presumably coming to work as a contractor of some sort here in Walker. This was on the pavement, that should be the safe part.
Please slow down and if anyone is coming to your […]
Happy New Year – A Week of Snow Behind Us
After a week of snow, we got a last few couple inches on New Year’s, Eve last night.
The forecast is for at least 10 days of sun, with no snow.
The roads are being plowed by the county.
It’s 21 degrees, so there will be ice out there.
It’s beautiful, but could be dangerous.
Please drive slowly, and carefully.
First Snow Of The Season – Dec. 10, 2021
We didn’t get much, maybe a half inch, but it’s snow.
After raining most of yesterday afternoon, it turned to snow around 10pm.
I’m sure it will be gone by Noon, but it’s a reminder that more snow is coming.
Let’s be careful out there.
