From Johnny O for WFPA:
Our Fire Fighter Appreciation Day, PIG ROAST, will be held this Saturday, September 3rd from 4-6pm. Here’s a chance to come out and thank the men and women that keep us safe. This is a HUGE pot luck and a must attend function. It happens fast, so be on time. The WFPA will supply all the meats and deserts, so please. PLEASE focus on bringing those delicious homemade sides only, (or buy it from Costco and at least put it in your favorite dish).
Parking space is always limited, so please carpool if possible or bring your little quad/bike/rickshaw…something smaller.
Hope to see you all there!

From Clyde for WFPA:
Every year over Labor Day weekend we hold Walker Firefighter Appreciation
Day. This is a day where the community gathers at the Fire Station to show
our appreciation and thanks to all those that volunteer and serve on the
Walker Fire Protection Association. Remember these are all volunteers –
there are no paid positions. Most recently many of our volunteers were here
when we needed them the most during the Crooks Fire. They spent endless
hours and efforts to protect our communities of Walker, Potato Patch,
Mountain Pine Acres and more because they love this community. Our Fire
Chief Roger had just arrived at his planned vacation when he got the call
about the Crooks Fire and he turned right around and drove back to Walker
giving up his vacation to serve us all! Now that is love and dedication.Saturday, September 3 from 4 – 6 p.m. is this year’s event. There will
be a pig roast and also desserts provided by WFPA and we kindly ask
everyone to please bring a side dish to share (bring a serving utensil
too). This is the biggest event of the year so come out and show your
support! If you have a “Support Walker Firefighters” t-shirt, wear it
on Saturday and we’ll get a group photo with the firefighters. If you
don’t yet have this t-shirt there are more and Walker Fire merchandise
will be available at this event. This year has been a big one for fundraising. As you may know WFPA is
purchasing a Type 3 Engine. This engine will give greater support to our
area and will also allow Brush 85 to move to the Fire Station building in
Potato Patch to better serve those areas.. It is a win for all of us! For
those who have donated $500 or more towards the truck fundraiser, your name
has been included in a raffle for prizes which are being given away during
the Firefighter Appreciation Day event. Several local businesses and
residents have provided some awesome prizes!! It’s not too late to donate
– please consider donating at: walkerfire.org and then click the
“truck”. These donations go directly to the truck fundraising efforts.
We thank you all for your kind donations!Let’s come together and celebrate our Fire volunteers! See you Saturday,
Clyde
