From Walker Firewise:
Mechanical Thinning Operations Continue along Walker Road
PRESCOTT, AZ – July 20, 2019 – Last week a contractor working on the Prescott National Forest began using heavy equipment to thin approximately 200 acres along Walker Road south of the Lynx Lake Recreation Area. Visitors can expect to see thinning crews working along the east side of Walker Rd between the Lynx Lake Recreation Area and the community of Walker. This project will require the closure of Trail # 305.
Vegetation treatments have proven to be an effective hazardous fuels management tool reducing the risk of crown fire and increasing defensible space. Completion of this project will improve the health and resiliency of fire-adapted ecosystems while simultaneously reducing hazardous fuels that pose a threat to life and property in the Wildland-Urban Interface.
The public is reminded to drive slowly and yield to heavy equipment working along Walker Road.
